Hairdressers don't really need to go to college....a high school certificate should be enough.

I think it's colleges of further education rather than secondary level education that you need to attend. You could try doing a course with fas and then being an apprentice with some of the bigger names like 'Peter Marks'. That'll look best on your cv. |

every morning while i was going to college I used to pass a place where there's a man who trains people in hairdressing, but it's around 10,000 euro to enrol with him. Not too sure of his surname but it's david something. My sister says he's well known in the hairdressing circles. It's on south st. george's street (dublin 2 I think) in dublin city centre.
most of the people I know who are hairdressers didn't do hairdressing in college or any course, they went in as a trainee for 4 years with no qualifications and worked their way up that way. |

I'm nearly sure that hairdressing is an apprenticeship rather than a college course. You go to be apprenticed to one of the Hairdressers like Peter Mark or even a local one that's not a chain where you learn the ropes and work doing the rubbish jobs-you then can get different types of certification for the different things-cutting, colouring etc. The best way to find out for sure is to ask your local hairdressers what they did-they might be able to tell you which are the best places to learn.
