What is the minimum age a minor can fly unaccompanied?

My niece wishes to fly from Ireland to the UK to visit her friend, she is 13yrs old - Does she have to be accompanied by an adult? (She will be met at the airport in the UK)

Hi there, all airlines have differnet policys. But there are some rough guidelines that they all follow.

General Guidelines
Unaccompanied service is required for all children 5–14 years old when not traveling in the same compartment with an adult at least 18 years old or the child's parent/legal guardian.
Children ages 5–7 years can only fly on nonstop or direct flights with no change of planes.
Children ages 8–14 years can fly on nonstop or connecting flights.
Children 15–17 are not required to have unaccompanied service but we will provide it when requested.
An unaccompanied child can not be booked on the last connecting flight of the evening. This is to prevent the need for an overnight stay in a hotel.

Hope this helps.

soon as she can flap her wings and do a little diving, call airlines for this info, policy may vary,,airline folkser pretty good kidsitters....,they'll even giver a bunny or a teddy bear

It depends on the airline, but usually if there is an adult seeing them off and meeting them, 13 is OK if it's non-stop. In some cases, children as young as 5 can fly if they are flying under an Unaccompanied Minor program (a fee-based accompaniment program).

E-dizzle
i think 15

dollymix (now geeky for a month)
I think she has to be accompanied by someone over 16 if she's that age. I would check the airline though, they all have different policies.
