They use euros, the same as France, Germany, Italy and the rest of the EU. The value of the euro has been bouncing around in the financial excitement of recent weeks, but it's currently worth about $1.35

Irish pounds haven't been used since they switched to to Euros in 2002.

It's no longer the Irish pound, the Republic of Ireland uses the Euro, and Northern Ireland still uses the pound stirling, because it's part of the UK.

The Questioner
The Republic of Ireland is part of the Euro zone. The Euro is strong against the £ sterling and the $ dollar. To find out what it is worth do a check on your computer under currency converter.

Euro. Irish punt went out years ago when I was in first class and that was 9 or 10 years ago.

In Northern Ireland they use pound sterling, same as England as they are in the U.K.

Can you clarify where 'here' is.

Jas B
I live in Ireland and it is the Euro, the Irish gave up their pound (punt) in 2002.

What part of Ireland are you in ?

Northern Ireland is part of the UK and uses the Pound.

Southern Ireland, better known as Eire, uses the Euro in common with the rest of the EC area.

I would like to tell you what it's worth where you are but you don't identify your location.
