No real irish person would spell sean with a W, and any irish girl with that name would be doomed to a miserable life of teasing.

traditional names like Aoife,Eithne,Niamh,Maeve & Aisling are popular for girls. I know boys called Connor,Colm,Kieran,Aidan & Liam
Some names that are considered 'irish' in the USA/Canada areconsidered more 'stage Oirish' by the true Irish--such as Erin,Shannon,Shawna,Caitlin & Colleen. Much more common in the US than Ireland, though they are found on occasion in Ireland due to the influence of tv/film.
Caitlin is a particularly interesting one, as in North America it is always pronounced Kate-lynn. In Ireland it's the Gaelighe version of Kathleen & is pronounced something like 'Katchleen.'

Christine
Probably Ciara or Aoife, maybe Siobhan,

for boys - Conor, Liam or Stephen

Barbie
Ciara and Ciaran. Luvin da 1st name!!! lol!!!

Here's a link to what I presume houseoffunksville was referring to. It shows also the change in popularity of different names over the last 5 years.

According to http://www.behindthename.com/top/lists/100ir2005.php which gives the top 100 names in Ireland for 2005, the most popular Irish girls' names are Aoife and Ciara and the most popular Irish boys' names are Sean and Conor.

I should be doing something else
I'd say Sean or Patrick for a boy and Aisling or Orlaith for a girl.

elle.gunn
