What is the national dress of Ireland?

Glamgirl
Eh...there is none! We wear the same clothes as the English now. If your talking old traditional dress....we dont really have any either!! The Irish were very poor so it was just a léine (shirt) and bríste (trousers).

There are things like Irish dancing costumes that are very celtic and iconic to Ireland but thats not the national dress. Some people say the kilt is but...its not. Yes thats Celtic traditional dress but no1 in Ireland ever wore them.

Sooo...in answer to your question there is none really!! Sorry!

Irish people dress the same as Americans. There is no national way of dressing or typical garment although they do sometimes wear woolly sweaters/jumpers....but then again, so do we.

Orla C
Same as everywhere else now, there is no true national costume anymore.

But you still need a good jacket or coat, and a scarf and good shoes if you're going out into the weather.
