Dalkey and Killiney are where all the rich people live. |

Sixty years ago when there was a class divide in Dublin, the Old Money tended to live along the coastlines of Dublin Bay, both north and south.
North at Sutton, Howth and Malahide and south at Sandymount, Dun Laoighre and Dalkey. The choice was made depending on which side of the city in which one had their business.
With the arrival of New Money and developement, these areas expanded inwards from the coast and small villages like Swords and Dundrum got swallowed up in the city sprawl.
The cost of land on the southside tended to be more expensive, due to its scarcity and the fact that there were mountains behind which were more expensive to develop. Northside land was more plentiful and less expensive.
So, the secondhand market on the southside became more expensive than on the north. But, this does not mean that the south is Wealthier, it's just a case of supply and demand dictating the price. This doesn't mean that people on the north are poorer than the south, just that they won't have to spend as much to live there. |

Dalkey would be the wealthiest per household, but as the houses are more spread out than Dublin 4 (D4) it might not be the wealthiest per square meter of land. |

Dundrum is a nice part, quite well off.
Also, I understand Swords is up and coming |

The Northside seen as being poorer and more working class, while the Southside is seen as middle and upper class and wealthier. This is also reflected by Dublin postal districts, with odd numbers being used for districts on the Northside, e.g: Raheny is in Dublin 5, and even numbers for ones on the Southside, e.g: Sandymount is in Dublin 4. |

Blackrock, Foxrock, Killiney, Dalkey, Glenageary ( south side)
D4 Sandymount,Ballsbridge, Donnybrook, UCD, Landsdowne area, Merrion all on the south side
On the north side try Horthy, Malahide ( not too many there)
Most of the musicians, pop stars, and writers live in these areas. Also many foreign embassies are located in these areas. Hope it helps!! |
