Yeah, it rains a lot. But depending where you are coming from, its not too cold. Since I now live in Boston, I find the winters to be mild towards what we get here. They don't get the bitter sub-zero temps. Don't get me wrong, its not warm by any means.

As for Christmas dinner, my family always has turkey, ham & spiced beef. Christmas day is the big turkey day since there is no Thanksgiving.

For dessert, sherry trifle, christmas cake (yes a fruit cake) and christmas plum pudding and mince pies.

For breakfast, there is always the traditional irish breakfast, sausages, rashers (bacon), pudding etc. But last week, all pork related items got taken off the shop shelves. Hopefully that will be sorted out soon.

Of course, you have to visit a chipper. The best thing is curried chips.

And then the chocolate.

Ok, now I'm hungry and homesick.

Have fun

I usually start with a homemade veg soup then Prawn cocktail or mussels in a white wine sauce then either turkey, roast duck or fillet steak, roast potatoes, stuffing, selection of veg etc then dessert can be anything like Xmas pudd, pavlova.cheesecake whatever, then finish off with selection of cheeses, crackers & coffee.

Weather?Diabolical lol but who cares it's Xmas.

Today it happens to be clear and sunny. Friday it was pouring rain. So I would say the same as any other time of the year - changeable.

Food for Christmas: Turkey, Ham, brussels sprouts (which I don't eat), roast potatoes, nice winter vegetables, Christmas Pudding with cream and brandy butter, Christmas cake, a glass of wine ....

The weather in Ireland, regardless of when you visit will probably be bad! It rains a lot here, however while Irish people consider it to be cold in winter, it's not as cold as Poland, the US etc in winter!

On Christmas Day my family have a traditional breakfast - sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, black and white pudding, fried onions, tea and toast!! some people also have beans!

For dinner, we start off with prawn cocktail.
The main course is turkey and ham, stuffing, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes with mixed herbs, brussel sprouts (that have been cooked in the same water as the ham), carrots and parsnips, gravy and cranberry sauce.
Dessert normally isn't eaten until a few hours later. There's a choice between sherry trifle and christmas pudding. Whiskey is poured over the pudding beforehand by the youngest member of the family, then the father puts a lighting match to it, when the flame dies down the pudding is served with whipped cream.

Christmas pudding and christmas cake are both very rich and made from fruit!

Cannot wait for Christmas Day!!!
