i like the hairy lemon too. i also like hogans on georges street, i always have a fun night there.

Not waving but drowning
The Brazen Head, Bridge street - cross the Liffey at the Four Courts (Merchant's Quay) it's a great pub lively, great music sessions, it's also the oldest pub in Ireland (maybe even Europe).

Many a fine night I imbibed at this establishment, mind you it was a few years ago.

Magpie
My friends and I always loved The Hairy Lemon... the snug by the window was awesome for people watching.

Also, if you like jazz, Pal Joey was a fun spot.

Mulligans on Poolbeg Street (behing the Screen Cinema, nr Trinity) has one of the best pints of Guinness in Dublin. The Palace in Temple Bar is good, as is Gravediggers (Kavanagh's) in Glasnevin, McSorley's in Ranelagh, Rody Bolands's in Rathmines, The Stag's Head and I could go on but I'd feel bad contributing any further to the damage to your liver.

My reason for liking all of the above is that they are proper local pubs with a good mix of regulars, they have good staff, good beer and a good atmosphere.

Rachel Maria
When I'm in town, the Palace on Fleet St. is my favourite. Give Bruxelles a whirl, too. Gets crowded at times but very good music and atmosphere. Grogans if you just want to talk-no singing allowed!

Trish D
Anywhere that doesn't have a TV or blaring music is well on the way to being a good pub.

afternoon delight! ;o)
Rating
messer macguires is cool music, then there's eamonn dorans in temple bar that's kind of a rock pub - same as fibber mcgees! boomerangs has random good music too, old and new!
they're not exactly my favourites, but there fun to check out cuz there a bit different...

they're nearly all great.

Phil most of the answers are giving you touristy pubs, my idea of a good Dublin Pub is one where you meet the real Dubliners, the dealers, the the old stock, the singalong the craic. Try the Deer's Head in Parnell St., just off O'Connell St., turn right at the Wolfe Tone Monument on O'Connell St. 200yds on left, tell them Colorado sent you, ask for Mr. Mc Nally.. Slainte \_/

Never been to Ireland but do plan to go some day so I'll keep a close eye on the answers that you get.
