Rude, obnioux towards foreigners, take the piss a lot of everybody, bad, dodgy violents teenagers with the attitude to beat everyone or spit on them, low rate of hygiene habits, most of time drunks and always promoting themselves as friendly (they arent) and hidding you that the place is bleeding overrated |

Slightly mad, most of us are dark but the occasional redhead slips in, we like to have a good time, but that doesn´t necessarily involve lots of alcohol or drugs, we´re getting better with foreign food, we speak the best English in the world, much clearer even than in most part of England (testified by thousands of Spanish and French who have come to Ireland to learn English), we love music and dancing and we´re catching up on the visual arts - fairly rapidly I might add, seeing as that never really had much to develop from, compared with other parts of Europe ..... |

Jamie we will let go when the jews forgive the nazis, and when the brits stop lording it over the germans that they won WW2 when the truth is the germans had been kicking the sh1t out of london and the uk until the americans joined in. The germans would have won in a one on one battle. We(Mick Collins) kicked your **** and your empire so badly in 1921, that you had to admit defeat and run out of Dublin with your tail between your legs, also the majority of world conflicts are due to the British Empire, the african states like Zimbabwe, Palestine, northern ireland, Kashmir,
So to answer your question the irish people, no mater how bad they are at least they are not english. We have to be upbeat considering who our neighbors are, |

I am Irish. Depends really where you go. The cities are the same (only smaller) as any other city. You go to the tourist spots, and they endulge on the fact of 'leprechaun land'. We don't live in mud huts, and farm all day, and most of us don't drink like fish. Granted, we're well able to have 'a bit of craic', but most of us are dead sound, and you'll be treated very well. |

HEY JAMIE THIS IS FOR YOU..... when god created the earth he called his angel micheal over to have a look. "whats that" micheal asked.that god replied is planet earth and its gonna be a world all about balance." what do you mean" asked micheal. "well its gonna be be really hot around the centre but cold on the top and bottom, that large land mass is america and it will be really prosperous in the north but poor in the south, their will be black people and white people" god continued showing micheal all the differences when micheal pointed to a little green dot in the ocean and asked god what it was. ahh god replied that is the emerald isle of ireland, there the people will be grat mucicians and poets, they will know how to have the craic. they will be wonderfully friendly people and their country will be beutiful" micheal looking confused then asked god where the balance in all that is which god replied Ahhh Sure Ya havent seen the W@nk$rs im gonna put in beside them yet |

There's something about Ireland that just enchants me! Dont really know what it is ... maybe because my Grandad was Irish and I'm just drawn to it lol. As for the people, they seem really friendly and laid back and I just cant get enough of the accent! |

I've not been to Ireland YET, but my nephew has and said the people were friendly and helpful, the scenery was beautiful..and in general the people were all good looking, he also said he had no problem finding someone to "throw a pint" down with!
The only thing he didn't enjoy was I forget what area he was in but it was cold and rainy and he was driving on little more than a "cow path" with huge cliffs at his side! |

Oh god.. not every irish person drinks ya know. I'll tell ya about the place i live in..
Ireland has about 40 shades of green, which you'll see everyday.
People love socialising and having a good time.
we hate every country except for our own, thats not a myth, thats true.
We still eat alot of potatoes. and stew.
Most of us are dead on :)
North coast of ireland is the best place to visit.
I'm 100% irish. :p

Friendly in general. Lovely scenery-can rain a bit! I'm Irish -have lived in England for some time and basically people are the same everywhere!
I find in some parts of Ireland there is a kind of magic or ambiance in the countryside and hills! Something that draws you! Good food and Guiness-good sport and less crowded than England. Enjoy your self! |

Like all nationalities it has good and bad, rich and poor, workers and lazy louts. People are generally friendly and willing to help, some are welcoming to foreigners some detest other nationalities being in "their" country. Some are highly educated, some are ignorant, some are individuals doing their own thing and some are "sheoples" copying the trend. Irish are known drinkers but not all Irish people drink to excess, how else would we have such a booming economy! Excellent social welfare system, health care (even though there are some failings there) democracy hard work ethic, you have to remember we are Island people so we had been cut off from the real world in a sense until the economy took off so the influx of world visitors is still a relatively new thing for many Irish. The celtic tiger and the Maastrict treaty enabled Ireland to Excel in ways and so the country is a Cosmopolitan place now. What are your own opinions? You never said.... |

They are Great Natural Story Tellers, and they will Tell you a good Yarn some True and most Big Fibs. It will be Hard to Penetrate the Steeley Gaze as they look at the Expression on your Face to see how you take it all in. If you are good you will be able to see a Twinkle of Merriment about the Eyes as they try to Pull the Wool over your Eyes. They like to Talk, and will do so to perfect Strangers they meet. An Irish Person might ask you your Opinion on anything from Cars to Clothing or another Person, if you just happened to be minding your own Business looking at something in a Shop Window. Or they might Tell you a Joke they Heard somewhere, they are just bursting to tell someone.
The Irish are generally getting Taller now with better Food unlike the Old Days when most Men would be no Taller than ft5.7 and Women ft5.5.
They are better Educated now with most Children Ending up in College .
Irish People are generally very friendly and will go out of their way to Help you, and they like having Fun.
You should not not Talk about Religeon and Politics though that is a Taboo and can sometimes End up in Fights especially in Pubs.
We do not have as much Thatched Cottages as we once had. If you are Expecting to find things the same as they were in that Film The Quiet Man then you will be disappointed, most of the Lifestyle Portrayed in that Film was all Hollywood Inspired Stereotype. Though we are more Laid back than most People, and in Country Areas you might find Quaint Old Fashioned Customs still being maintained. |

I'm English but go to Ireland often. I usually go to the west but last week stayed in Dublin. I love the place no matter where but I found Dublin very expensive compared to other places. Lots of lovely friendly people and wonderful scenery, not forgetting the Guinness and the jamesons ! |

I was brought up in the UK, and lived there for 40 odd years, I have lived in Ireland for four years and would never ever go back to the uk, this is a far Superior place to live, with a wonderful way of life, surrounded by great people, great food, great scenery, great roads, and loads to do. |

Only ever been to Dublin and all the locals we met were fantastic. All willing to help with directions, best places to go etc. The only rude people we met were Chinese staff in the hotel - apparently it's offensive if you want your drink in an uncracked glass and want to go to the loo when the cleaner's in there! |

I'm Irish and i don't think the Irish are all that friendly. We are not very good at customer service and we don't really love foreigners hence tourists. Seriously! I've been to a lot of places abroad and the Irish rank low on friendliness. Thai people are friendly for example and extremely gentle. They bow to greet you. I can't see an irish 'lad' doing that (sorry i might just wet myself laughing here). We might be friendly compared to some other europeans but not worldwide generally. Unfortunately the reputation for drink is quite true but not like it used to be in the olden days. Were more into the hard core drugs now .... apart from that it's all 'grand' |

We all wear green. We all have ginger hair, fair skin and freckles. We all say "top of the morning to you". We are all drunk and say "feck" and "eejit". We are all builders and we love ham sandwiches with a cup of "tay". We are all staunch Catholics and hate England. None of us is an indivdual - just clones......... |

To me, Irish men are the most handsome, definitely (not that you'd be interested in that info, i know)
and well, they were the cradle of catholicism in northern europe, they have saint Patrick, they are red heads, they are quiet people in green lands, and many north americans have irish roots.
I have a good impression of them, wouldn't mind being Irish. |

Sadly for last fifty years the image of Irish peope was destroyed in the world by the Irish Republican Army. Irish became associated with hatred and violence. Hopefully their defeat and extermination will leave a better picture in the future. This answer will get many thumbs down but having travelled throughout the world in last twenty years I think I know better than most. |
