Why When How
Derry or Doire to give it it's proper name is both a county and a town in Northern Ireland which is part of the United Kingdom. It is located in the north west of the island of Ireland.

In the 17th centuary Derry was renamed Londonderry and this renaming is the subject of much contreversy today.

Jeremy M
I've a sneaking suspicion it's from Derry alright....................LOL

greenorlagh
Derry or Londonderry is in the northwest of Ireland. It is actually in the county of Londonderry strange as it may seem. The name of the county had previously been County Coleraine but was changed after Derry was renamed Londonderry. So it is wrong to refer to the county as County Derry as it has never officially been known as that name.

...but it's always County Derry, and Derry to me...

To clarify - there is no area in UK called Ulster. Ulster is a province of Ireland and has nothing whatsoever to do with Britain. Six counties of Ulster (Northern Ireland) are in the UK.

oh, by the way, the word 'ireland' doesnt refer to any country, but to an island, a piece of land surrounded by sea. some people around here dnt know geography or have a lot of issues....

There is a place called Derry, but if you look for it on a map it will probably be called Londonderry.

It's actually in Northern Ireland

elle.gunn

benny
It is from the county Derry which is in in the north west of the Island , beside Donegal

... this might be a really wild guess, but...

Derry, perhaps?

It's in the north of the island. All the way up in the north. Lovely accent, isn't it? ^_^

King Of Dorksville
Londonderry and its not in Ireland it's in Northern Ireland. I'm not making a political statement here I'm just going by what's on the map.

Is máith liom cáca millís!
Yup! I lived there (in Portstewart for 10 years of my life)!

I have a Derry/Galway accent!

Derry rocks! It is the BEST place on Earth, and will always be my home!

The North part. County Derry to be exact. It's up right at the very top, Donegal to the left and Antrim to the right.

ms.toni
Co. Derry in the Province of Ulster.

alan m
Its from the British part of Ireland called Ulster. It is known as Londonderry but Irish people in south do not like the London connection so call it Derry. But you are right. No such place exists.

joanne o
yes, Derry is one of the six counties of Northern Ireland, the north west to be exact.
