I don't know of any atheistic mission organizations... try going with a Christian one anyway. Give God another chance :)

My other thought would be the Humane Society (basically, a dog pound). In the US, one can volunteer at them. Or maybe go to an orphanage and be a friend to an orphan? I don't know of many non-religious good-will organizations...

why don't you get a job working in the Edinburgh Festival - great atmosphere! Working from 1st of August to end of August.

Go backpacking in hostels in Europe, before you're older. Drink the drinks, eat the food, meet lots of different people from around the world.

You can find loads of casual jobs as you go around, which will not only give you accomodation but help your budget because there's minimum wage laws all over europe, and it's one of the best ways to meet people, particularly of the opposite sex to yourself!

The sort of jobs are for example the wine or apple harvest in France which you'll find at the local "Syndicat d'Initiative", starting in the south around Toulouse in July then on to Bordeaux and ending around the Champagne and Normandy regions; hotel work in the French pistes and in Bavaria. If you've got music, busk in different cities for euros. I did it and it's still one of the best periods in my life I remember - I'm middle-aged now and pity people who never did it!

Go job seeking and then go and get pissed with your friends clubbing and that.
