People are very relaxed about a lot of things, and don't really get into a tizz about celebrities coming to town, but at the same time are very protective of celebrities that live locally (just trying asking the locals of West Cork exactly where Jeremy Irons the actor lives, they'll send you on a wild-goose chase).

Don't ever discuss the history/politics of Ireland with an Irish person. You never know what they might tell you. And if you decide to be bolshy about the history of what they - we - perceive as the history of our country and not yours, well .... depending on where you are, you could either have your car keyed or your kneecaps removed. Some things are much better left well alone.

People are very friendly generally.

Its beautiful Country. I was fortunate enough to visit and there is something very special about it.
It was once a country plagued with high unemployment, high inflation and slow growth. In just the past ten years Ireland has undergone a great economic transformation.
When I visited, I went and found "family" (I am irish) and I was so surprised that most people did not have telephones and could not even afford a soda. Now things have changed for the better and its a wonderful Country.

Its all easy and chilled out, even in the rush of the city it is more relaxed than the rest of the world,
Also we do like to drink and socialise hard

1 Its famous for its traditional music which you should def. check out.
2 The pub is the main meeting place
3 You cant smoke in the pubs anymore so a lot of people go to the offie and go round their friends n have a game of poker n a party
4 There r some charming people in Ireland, but sat night may not be the best night to go out cos some are only let out on a sat if you know what i mean, and you know this by the language and awful noises they make
5 You ll have a great time down the country instead of staying in dubin
6 There r places where they still speak the native language, like in kerry or connemara or donegal
6 You he the best of irish music, esp. trad.......go to co. clare
7 you ll get the nicest creamiest pint of guinness in griffins bar ennistymon, co. clare
8 You ll hear the best irish trad in co. clare also, and speakin of co. clare.... best music, food and craic and guinness and ...ok i will stop now
