Ireland is a State and what a state it is in!!!
We have no codes except in Dublin (even = south of the river Liffey and odd = north of the River Liffey)
I believe a distant place called Cork also has a couple of codes.
You did not expect the reaction you got from these answers |

Ireland is a country. It is not part of the United States and does not have a "state" or a "zip code". |

Ireland is a country.
Zip Codes are only applicable to the USA |

I should be doing something else

Ireland does not have States or Zip Codes.
We have Postal codes, but they only exist in Dublin.
Northern Ireland (UK) has postal codes, but they are different for every single street.
I hope I answered your question correctly but I am not sure what you mean. |

Since Ireland is an independent country, it doesn't have a STATE. Many countries use postal codes of various sorts. Ireland, being relatively small, only uses postal codes in Dublin and Cork. |

Wrong country. Ireland has counties and there is no such thing as a zip code outside the United States. |

I expect the Irish will be thrilled to hear they are now part of the United States! Theyre having enough trouble being part of Europe.
Zip codes apply only to US addresses which Ireland does not have. |

We don't have zip codes. Only counties.
Big cities like Dublin, however, have split their cities into sections like D4, D12 etc. |

The Republic of Ireland IS a state, dear.
There are postal codes in Northern Ireland, but this is because it is still officially part of the United Kingdom. The Republic of Ireland is not, and therefore as a different postal system.
Outside of Dublin city, there are no postal codes, and in rural areas, quite often no house numbers either.
All you have to do is this:
The name of the person,
the name of the street, or if it's a rural area, the townland,
the name of the nearest town or village,
the county: Co Dublin, for example,
then Rep. of Ireland.
That's all you need! |
