What summer jobs could a fifteen year old get in ireland?

i live in ireland, i'm fifteen and i need a summer job. just to make things a bit clearer i'll highlight the jobs that i don't want 1. fastfood (all these jobs have been taken by foreign people) 2. jobs that aren't real jobs like babysitting (i already do this) cutting peoples grass and stuff cause it's not like i am going to just knock on my neighbours door and say '' eh hi can i cut your grass and u pay me''.

i would love a job working in a hotel or a restaurant if anyone knows if this is possible please reply
thanks xxx

Many employers may have legal issues because you are under 16, so i'm not sure if you have many options. You could try somewhere like Argos. If all else fails try your local community centre or ask to work helping in a summer programme/camp for primary kids (these jobs usually don't require you to be over 16 or 18.
Good luck in what ever you do.

when the sun goes down
hey,
i was looking around and noone will take on because i'm 15

i'm going back in september when i'm 16 to look for a job though
ill be in 4th year so there will be no schoolwork to be interfeered with

good luck

Heidi
uhm i knew some people who worked at their boarding school/private school. People would stay over htere during the summer and they would just change their sheets and clean the bathrooms and stuff. Nothing major. They also got paid min. wage

Georgie
hotel accommodation hygiene technician.

It would be easier to get a job with a local buisness with people that know you - then they might bend they rules a bit. At fifteen, it's perfectly legal to get a part-time job. Provided you don't work more than 10 hours a week.
I am fourteen and I have a summer job at a local farm as a tour guide (I bring primary school kids around the farm and they pet the animal and we play games and treasure hunts) I work twice a week for four hours each day. So, I think you wouldn't have a problem getting a job.
Just plaster on a smile and ask around the local pubs/restaurants/hotels/shops etc., or even ask your relations if they know any businesses that are recruiting staff for the Summer - you never know who they might know!
Good luck to you and enjoy the Summer holidays!

Lauren
Ok you can work technically from the age of 14. But only during summer holidays and mid term. aka it can't interfere with your school work etc. You do not have to be paid the minimum wage until you are 16. Alot of places won't hire you due to insurance reasons until you are actually 16. Why not send C.v's to your local hotels...it couldn't hurt to try.

Cinema - cleaning up after shows and stuff
Tesco or Dunnes - stacking shelves etc
Pub - collecting glasses
Offices - they are always short staffed during the summer, you could do the photocoping etc

Yeah try hotels, there are plenty of jobs for you to do there.

Good luck girl

No one will hire a 15 year-old - seriously, I am an Optimist and I still know for sure, you will have a 2% chance of getting work!

Hey There,
unfortunately legally and insurance wise people can't hire you til you reach the grand old age of 16, however try some local shops or cafes they might have openings.
Fruit-picking or selling is another option - I know you might hate it but it can pay well and there's no-one there breathing down your neck watching your every move.
Lastly why not be self-employed, check out your local neighbourhood, people might want cars, windows washed/grass cut or dogs walked it made lads round us a fortune last summer!!
Best of luck

Hi there,

Hi there a lot of the big companies such as Dunnes, Tesco wont employ people until they're 16, it may have changed but I know this was the case when I was that age

You should be able to get work in a restaurant no problem, they will probably start you off as a kitchen porter. You really just need to go into a few restaurants around your area and ask them if they have any summer work, I know you might not like the idea of just walking into places and asking them have they got a job, but thjats what you gotta do, It's what I did when I was 14 and my lil bro is 15 and he did the same they started him off as a kitchen porter and now hes waiting tables (great tips!).

Hope this helps and best of luck in finding a job.

Well you could always ask around! Family members might know people with vacancies. I know supermarkets like centra and others employ students! You could work on tills, bag packing, deli etc.
With the hotel/restaurant I'm sure you could be a waitress, or even just go around picking up glasses, plates etc. They might need you for functions over the Summer. I know one guy he got a job in a local hotel for help with a festival that was on.
You could also apply your talents to something. I dance at a farm for tourists who learn to be Irish for a day. They make brown bread, round up the sheep with the sheepdog etc and at the end, they have a big ceili like they did ages ago. They have the trad music, we go out in our costumes and dance, have a bit of Irish singing, and in between the tourists display some of their talents. Its great craic actually because they some from everywhere(America, Japan, England, Wales, Scotland). They have these peace groups or something for the Americans and the Japanese go on this cruise around the world. Anyway back to the point, if you have a talent and there are groups like that in your area, just go ahead and apply! You earn money for doing something you love! Simple as!
Have a nice Summer!

when i was 15 i worked in a pub...haha yeah smal towns generlly wont care bout your age and theyl employ you, if you live in a city they might be put off by how old you are. why dont you just lie and say your 16??

being 15 you may not be able to work as a hostess in a resturant.

What about working in a bed and breakfast or a store?
