What to pack for Ireland trip in May?

I am going to Ireland in May and have no idea what weather I am likely to face. I was told the average high is around 60 degrees F. but that the humidity is around 75%. Is this true? I'm from Arizona where the average temerature in May is around the high 80's or low 90's, so anything around 60 seems cold to me. Would you recommend a light jacket and long sleeve shirt or a heavier coat?

The weather here in Ireland has been pretty humid for the last few months. The weather has been pretty awful really, a lot of rain and some high winds. Whatever you choose to bring - make sure you take an umbrella with you and / or a rain jacket. It's not generally cold in May, but be prepared for it to be wet and cloudy. Sorry, it sucks, I know : ( But it can change quickly as well, so you might very well be lucky and get some actual sunny weather too.

you need a lot of layers...the bottom-most layer being something for warm weather (a t-shirt or tank top), the middle layers should be for windy weather (a cardigan, some long sleeves) and the top should be waterproof (rain coat, slicker). Keep in mind, it will probably not go above 70-75 and it will not go below 50 degrees. Most likely 60-65 degrees (not counting wind/rain factor)

If you're coming to Galway (or the west), umbrellas tend to be useless as it's so windy here they generally just turn inside out as soon as you get them up. Instead, try a raincoat/rainjacket with a hood. Land's End has always been my saving grace when looking for outerwear for Ireland. Just get it BEFORE you come here, as land's end doesn't really serve Ireland. Try the website below. Rain gear for any climate.

See with summer its really hard to tell, i mean it was pouring all last week and the past two days have been gorgeous!!! Id say bring a medium heavy coat with a hood and a few zippys and t shirts bringmaybe track suit bottoms or light trouers and maybe shorts a s well

the weather is pretty unpredictable here so bring a lot of layers. here is a brief list of what you should bring.

t-shirts,
sweaters,
rain coat,
umbrella,
jeans,
a couple pairs of 3/4 legnths

if you are going to the south, west or north of ireland (ie. coastal areas) you should also bring the following:

walking boots,
warm hat,
wetsuit (if you intend going to the beach)

and finally ..

bring a camera and a lot of money. the scenery is spectacular but everything is pretty pricy here so be prepared.
