What would the Irish do if the French decide to invade the whole of the British Isles?

To clarify, the term British Isles is controversial in relation to Ireland where its use is objected to by many people and by the government of the Republic of Ireland. Its use is also avoided in relations between the governments of the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom, who generally employ the euphemism - "these islands."

In an attempt to answer your ambiguous question:

•If France were to invade England, the Irish would do not a thing. Would they have to? I mean, we are talking about the French here … not exactly the best fighters in the world. Have they ever won a war without help? No one even one the civil war in France; all the French soldiers were hiding.

•And if France were to invade Ireland in the morning???? They’d be great craic in the pub in the afternoon.

Nothing. We're neutral. haven't got a real army to speak of. AND we're not part of the British isles.

Besides the French helped us against the British in 1798 why would we hinder them?

Ireland is an independent country!!!!!! We broke off from the commonwealth in1949. We are not part of Britain. And France is in the E.U with us so they wouldn't attack us.

they can invade all they want as we are not part of the British isles just drop off a couple hundred crates of wine before you start your invasion OK

Nothing, we're neutral dontcha know! And seeing as Ireland isn't part of the British Isles, it shouldn't make much of a difference to us.

dm_cork
Ireland is not part of the British Isles.

If the French decided to invade Ireland and Britain, they wouldn't be able to do it, the UK could defeat them on their own, without having to appeal to their allies, like, say, the US, who probably would be only delighted to assist in fighting the French.

If they went ahead with a war, they would be censured internationally, thrown out of the EU, be subject to UN sanctions and possibly military actions, and completely be ostracised from the European and world political scene. Any attempt to invade would therefore be swiftly undermined by the general populace.

And Ireland's response would be minimal - we would depend entirely on the UK for defence, and we probably would not significantly resist an invading army as they arrived. However, insurrection and underground resistance to an invading force would be constant, bloody, determined and unending. The impossibility of properly governing Ireland and the Irish as a belligerent invasion force was a major reason why Hitler and the Nazis never considered Irish occupation in WWII.

Frech people love Ireland and irish people so they wouldn't do that. Besides what would france do you territory such as england full of tea-sippers and of old and rusty people with a broom up their mind... And Ireland, I mean R O I is not considered as a britsh isle anymore !! It's independent, remember ?! (exclude N. I) AND if they did, I know a couple of irish lads who can speak pretty good french !!

Probably laugh their heads off. France? Attack? Seriously, do you remember the 1940's? How about the way they were THROWN out of their colonial territories in the 1950's?
