The Black & Tan were English animal scum.
There is no difference these days. The english still send the scum of society to kill Irish people except these days the average english soldier on the streets of Ireland is a 17 year old skin head, school drop-out who can't get a job anywhere else.
Scum of the Earth english pigs. |

The first unit arrived in Ireland in March 1920 after only 3 months trainning. Mostly composed of british soldiers coming home from the war only to face unemployment and desperate for money.
Some say the name comes from the fact there wasnt enough uniforms to go around, so they wore part 'black' police uniform and part 'tanned' military camo. Some also say that the nickname came from a pack of hunting hounds.
Though I think everyone will agree it was one of the worst, most half baked ideas of the british government. Hiring shellshocked ex-war psychopaths and sending them to Ireland with a license to kill anyone 'suspicious'. |

1920=The name comes from both the colour of the uniform and the ferocity they showed hunting people down-being compared to a pack of fox hounds-which are black and tan!! BTW these were the English soldiers which were considered "damaged: by ww1-and unfit for service elsewhere-a pack of murderous child raping animals |

Hello
The began to arrive in 1920 and remained there for a couple of years, when they got off the tansport, they were all ready to do a dastardly job with an attitude that was ok with the British hierachy, and they did it too, and in a lot of cases did it with a degree of viciousness, that could be compared with the viciousness of that, of the SS, in Europe during World War 2, Called theBlack&Tans, and dressed in Black berets and tan uniforms, and armed to their teeth say what you like, but Irish people still ended up just as murdered, just not on the same scale as in Europe. The whole country breathed a great sigh of relief when the B&Ts were repatriated back to their own country, where they were just as despised for what had happened in Ireland. I hope this helps you in your research. Bye .............Tony M |

If you are also referring to the non-drinkable kind of black and tans they were also called "pug uglies" . |

Apples to Apples
 |
The style is believed to have originated in pubs in the British Isles with drinkers ordering a mix of dark stout and draught bitter. The name is first recorded in 1889 [citation needed], though an earlier origin of an 18th century blend of porter and pale ale has been conjectured. |
