A Girl from Galway.. (west of Ireland)

= )

It's a girl from Galway.

Always happy, always kind and always a laugh.

Nearly as much fun as a Derry girl!

And I ask you friend,
What's a fellow to do
When her hair was black,
and her eyes were blue?

So I took her hand,
and I gave it a whirl,
then I lost my heart to a Galway girl.

A country lass

Somebody asked this question a couple of weeks ago. A Galway girl as referred to in the song is a girl from County Galway. A couple of hundred years ago ships from the Spanish Armada landed and/or sank off the coast here and many Spanish interbred with Irish people. As a result many Galway people have extremely black hair but have the blue eyes of more northern peoples. This is what the song refers to.

Well i good be smart and say that its a girl from Glaway.....but basically Galway is considered to be old fashined county so Galway girl would be your stereo-typical irish girl i.e. Catholic,no sex be4 marriage nd all that stuff!!!

Mundy, he is an Irish singer sang a song called Galway Girl. Steve Earle sang this song too. If you want to hear it, log on to youtube and type in:galway girl.
It's a nice song.
