Ignore the people carrying on about violence, its still a great place to visit... it can be overhyped - its like anywhere keep out of the dodgy places.

So much to see there, check out the other answers for the sights.

If you're interested in the history, check out the black taxi tour in Belfast - this will give you an insight into the troubles.. also Derry is very much worth a look.
