Whats the distance from Dublin airport to the city center?

Heading to dublin at the end of the month for my mate birthday, seems as if the cheapest hotels are near the airport. Can someone tell me how far the airport is from the city Centre or even better of a cheap hotel in the centre Thanks

The distance is 8 miles, about 13 Km. It will take about 40 minutes on the bus. A double decker bus leaves every 20 minutes into town for 4 Euro single fare.
It is false economy staying in the cheap airport hotels as public transport back to the airport area at night stops at 11.30 pm. and taxis will cost 30 euro. Best to stay in the city centre, try Jurys hotels, they do a room only basis or get a B&B.
Avoid drinking in Temple Bar area, it's a complete rip off.
Pints are about 5 euro and smokes are 7.60, so bring lots of money.

About 5 mls there are lots of cheap hotels. My advice would be to stay in one of the many B/B's which are three minutes from the Centre in Gardiner Street. These are very popular with the Tourists and are reasonable with a good Irish Breakfast to help you on your way, Slainte..

Barbara Doll to you
about 5 or 6 miles

Hi,

The bus journey is no distance to the city centre and there are plenty or regular buses, there is also a taxi rank when you come out of the airport but I never bother. There is a cheap hotel called The West County out in Chapelizard its a a couple of bus stops into the city but its a great place to stay, and anywhere in the city is much more expensive if not try www.accomodationdublin.com enjoy your stay

Dublin airport is one crazy place to be...be prepared to answer many many questions about what you've brought with you...such as do you have any liquids, do you have any electronics, do you have batteries, when is the last time you used your electronics, has anyone but yourself used these electronics, has your bag been in your sight for the entire duration of your trip...etc. Its safe yes, but a bit over the top. I thought there was an attack back in the states, many people also get interrogated boarding the flight.

the distance from dublin to airport is 13 km is not that bad but the bus in dublin is very expensive and take very long go in town around half hour if you are lucky ,even one hour
so get a hostel in city center
the cheapest hostel is litton lane
i remind you ireland is very expensive
if you need anything else just ask

As for a cheap hotel are you travelling with Ryanair? If so checkout the site for cheap hotels.

I found this on the site Maldron Hotel Smithfield previously Comfort Inn Smithfield for about 63 pounds.

the distance is irrelevant, what you need to know is that there are times when it can take thirty minutes to travel a mile in dublin, from 7:30 to 10:30 is pretty bad and from 16:00 to 19:30 likewise
