Where are all the best night clubs/bars in Dublin?

Hey guys and girls,

I'm looking to go to Dublin, Ireland for the very first time next weekend. I would like to know where in Dublin is the best place for pubs, bars and then night clubs. In other words I'm looking for the Dublin 'West End'. So I'd like to know the area I can go to.

Also how far from the Airport and local hotels

and lastly what's the vibe like in Dublin for partying, are people really friendly, friendlier than London...I've heard so much about it.

Thanks

The only Irish people who go to Temple Bar are the ones who wanna score some foreigner. Everyone goes there cause they think that's the hub but it's the tourist hub. Dublin's a lot smaller than most other cities so it's not that big a deal to taxi it around or even walk. Also depends what type of place you're looking for, Harcourt Street has a few (Copper Face Jacks is always full of pople behaving like they're 15 so will definitely pull there, Crystal is pretty affluent with so called Irish celebrities there), South William Street is a good laugh (Dakota's always a full bar, Pygmallion is new, cheap and good dance music, The South William is a decent enough club, Spy and Wax have good dance music and a young persons vibe off it), Camden Street has loads of clubs, generally with awful music though (Flannery's and Palace), but the likes of Wheelans (Indie), Village (Indie, Dance) and Solas (Funky, cheap bar) and Anseo (standard fun bar) are good. Beside that is Crawdaddy and Tripod which are among the most popular clubs with great dance music and gigs. Temple Bar does have The Button Factory which is host to some really good DJ's coming over. These are all South of the Liffey (the safe part ;-)) but Twisted Pepper on Abbey Street is proving itself to be an ecellent club. And finally the Bernard Shaw is always full of young people and there's usually always a gimmicky thing going on (bbq, car boot sale, etc). Hope that helps!

Irish people are generally very friendly and up for a laugh so you should have no bother with us!

ps if your're over this wekend that means it's the Bank Holiday weekend here, that always means that Bernard Shaw on Sunday and Monday is always jammed and great fun! Attracts it's small share of people going from the night before too so it's always fun to try and spot them (or fit in if you don't plan on sleeping?). Reminds me of the old Irish joke "Where's the highest place in the world? The Bernard Shaw on a Bank Holiday Sunday" AKA the Gurnard Jaw!

Temple bar is the best place for pubs and clubs!
dublin air port is roughly half an hour to an hour from city center, depending on traffic, there's hotels all over dublin so that's hard to answer,
the vibe is great the people are friendly as long as you are

This is a comment not an answer...sorry. But I'm glad you posted this question because I'll be over there May 7th -13th!! So I need to know the same thing. Hope you have a blast!!! I know I will. :) (btw, from what I've read and been told by friends over there....stay away from the Temple Bar area at night..to pricey and more for tourist)

tourists normally go to the temple bar, but it can be full of dickheads , stag/hen parties etc, bridge st has a couple more traditional pubs and william st has a few more modern bars on it, down near the shopping centre (power court i think you call it)
