"Ireland (53°30′N 7°38′W; Irish: Éire) is the third largest island in Europe. It lies in between the Atlantic Ocean and Irish Sea. It is composed of the Republic of Ireland (officially named Ireland), a state which covers five-sixths of the island (south, east, west and north-west), and Northern Ireland; part of the United Kingdom, which covers the northeastern sixth of the island. [1]

The population of the island is approximately 5.8 million people (2001); 4.1 million in the Republic of Ireland [1] (1.5 million in Greater Dublin [2]) and 1.7 million in Northern Ireland [3] (0.6 million in Greater Belfast)."

The UK is to the east of Ireland. If you go the the most western part of the island, your next stop is America

Who the hell are all these idiots saying we are in the UK. Get thee back to Geography classes.

el.tuco
why won't they let you have a map ?

Twinkle

Ireland is close to the United Kingdom. What separates Ireland from its neighbours is the arresting beauty of the land, the turbulent history of the island, the broad smile that welcomes your arrival and the heartfelt farewell that signals your departure. You can fin lots of information about Ireland on http://www.discoverireland.com/gb/about-ireland/

You see The North of Ireland belongs to England (dont ask why just look it up on the web). The rest belongs to us,The Irish. It is an island (ie we are surronded by water). In Northern Ireland (see above) you can buy big hairy monkeys with red eyes and big green feet.I know thats where I got mine.Anyway we (The Irish)do not want to be part of England cause we can make a mess of our country all on our without their help.I know this probably wasnt of any help at all....

joaquin
To put it bluntly, it's just west of the UK, north of France, south east of Iceland and east of America. get an atlas and come to the land of saints and scholars!

roseagra
lads and lassie, no it isn't in the UK missus, jesus, mary and joseph!!! the people before that have recommend maps, I applaud you, it's the simplest way, there has been some great detail etc to explain the where abouts of Eire, but the map idea is by far the best and I like the description of the lands beauty etc, seperating us from the rest of the world, very twee, but yes, we are just beside the bigger island that makes up scotland, england and wales, to the left and above france, but please get that map and it's be much easier, gur raibh mhaith agat!
