Where is a good place to live in Ireland where you can easily commute to Dublin 15?

Ideally I would want to commute using public transport but I could drive. I consider an hour or less (door to door) a reasonable commute.

Thanks for the info all.
Ideally I am looking to be a bit further from Dublin so I can afford a bigger property. I have seen some places in Co.Cavan that look great and affordable but not sure if the commute would be possible. Geographically, it looks like I would be better in Co. Louth, Co.Meath or Co.Kildare.

Im living in Dublin 15 (castleknock/blanchardstown area) and you can EASILY commute to here from anywhere along the maynooth train line. Trains are frequent and mostly reliable. You can get from town to d15 in 15 minutes and maynooth to d15 in 20. Maybe try maynooth itself, clonsilla, leixlip or dublin city center.

Also there are great bus services to the Blanchardstown shopping center so you could be sorted that way depending on where you hope to work.

Dunboyne

Podge and Rodge Tribute Band
We don't have a decent public transport system thanks to years of Fianna Fail corruption and stupidity.

Try Letterkenny.

First answer gives you a lot of good info, also check out Ongar in Dublin 15 not far from Clonee. I rented there a year ago, reasonable rents (for Dublin!), there is plenty of Shops (Dunnes etc..) in Ongar Village and pub and is a nice area in general.

Hope this helps

Lucan, Co. Dublin, tis a grand place. Onger is to close to "The Wild West" of Blanch.
