There is lovely scenery, and walking the mountains is just fabulous!!
And you HAVE to visit Pol An Eas in Aughacashel.
It is an fresh water outdoor swimming pool.

The real republic - The Peoples Republic of Cork - by the inviting banks of the River Lee you can enjoy the finest in Corconian delicacies, with a wide variety of shops, entertainments and last but not least, the Cork people themselves, a fair and well-mannered community (except fri/sat nights)

Dublin regarding the people. It's friendlier than other places because there is a bigger influx with foreigners comparing to the small cities. It's not a very beautiful city but you will expect less racism. If you like the countryside then try the west coast or Cork county which is a kinda scenery.
