I think Kayak.com is always a good place to start when looking for the best airline rates. They scan multiple other sites at once and deliver the results.
For a lively weekend I think you should head for Dublin and spend all your time there. Everyone in the city seems to be under 35 and there's great nightlife.
Here are two links where you can find the best online guides for Ireland and Dublin. http://www.wickedgoodtraveltips.com/?p=140

Aside from Dublin, which is obviously great, I'd say Killarney in Co. Kerry. You can get cheap flights with Ryan air from £27 rtn, and Killarney is about 10 miles away from the airport. It has great scenery plenty of pubs and clubs and cheap accommodation. You won't be disappointed. |

You will find it difficult finding anywhere in Ireland thats not expensive. Try visting Cork on the south coast - great place and has a Jaz festival in the summer. Lots of hotels and cheap flights (aer Lingus, Ryanair from the UK)
for hotels try expedia.co.uk - you'l pay aroung 150 euro per room per night for something decent.
Hire a car and drive down the west coast - make sure you visit Kinsale (near Cork) and Galway Coast. |

Aer Lingus was stopping flights to Shannon, but you might be able to get there via Ryanair.
Limerick is lively but not expensive. Unfortunately it as a reputation it doesn't deserve, and people from outside the area don't know or don't care to know just how friendly Limerick people are ... plus there's a thriving arts scene in the city, with lots of performances etc. for either a knock-down price or for free.
Accommodation-wise there are youth hostels and inexpensive B&Bs in and near the city centre, as well as the big hotels. |

Dublin is lively with plenty to do and see for all types. Accommodation can be found using google and typing in what you want, eg Dublin bed and breakfast. There are many just outside town that are good and cheap. |

A weekend's not very long! You'd want to be somewhere near an airport, which boils down to Dublin, Cork or Belfast. They're all good places and have their good and bad points. You should be able to get a cheap weekend package to any of these out of season.
PS. I've just seen someone suggest Killarney - best seen through the rear view mirror of your car IMHO. |
