Where to live close to Shannon Airport in Ireland?

Moving to Ireland, spouse being transferred to Shannon airport for work, interested in being within a 20 to 40 minute drive. What are the nice areas? What areas to avoid? We have children and pets, prefer country to urban, love the outdoors and have a generous rental/letting budget.

Trust me I'm a Doctor ♥
I know someone who rented a lovely little cottage not far from Sixmilebridge. There are a lot of new builds there but still some places in the countryside. Maybe going inland slightly, Killaloe and the surrounding area looks good http://www.discoverkillaloe.com/index.htm but not sure how long it would take you to drive in along country lanes?

I found this website which has quite a few properties around the Shannon area http://www.propertynews.com/results.php?rt=map&s=65969578#NTIuODI5NDI3MDQxMDYzNjUsLTguMDk4NTU4ODQ1ODI1MTk1LDgsbm9uZQ==

ennis is the only real town in clare and its in a good distance from shannon. try Tulla (ennis is only 15 mins away, which is handy!), sixmilebridge, kilrush, scariff, feakle and crusheen. these are all country locations within 30 mins to shannon.

Sixmilebridge is very close, Newmarket-on-Fergus is also nearby, and Ennis. Any of those places are small towns.

I found Cratloe to be a nice place: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cratloe. There are woods for walking the pets, a primary school in the town and is only 19-20km from the airport so will take you about 20 minutes according to google maps.

You are probably looking for places in County Clare so I'd try looking here for some ideas and then research them to find the best: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/County_Clare#Other_small_towns_and_villages.

Good luck searching and I hope you enjoy living in Ireland.
