Where would I be able to buy a Postal Order to the value of £10 sterling in the REPUBLIC OF IRELAND??
I live in Dublin Ireland and in order for me to purchase a Criminal Record Certificate from the UK I need to send either £10 sterling or a cheque. I have a account in the UK but my cheque book is invalid now as it has been so long since I was last in the UK. I need to quickly buy a £10 sterling postal order in Dublin but have no idea where to get one. Can anyone help me where I could purchase one in Dublin? Additional Details Everyone thanks for the great answers, and snotgal no thanks for your contribution I suspect he has been dissing all your answers!!!
as far as i know, you cant send postal orders from over here.
you have to get a STERLING DRAFT from the post office or bank account over here and send it that way. you have to pay the currency conversion charge and then the charge to send registered post.
it also has to clear at the other end like a cheque, so takes 5 days to clear.
i had to send cash to the uk in sterling also, i was really stressing out and its the only way i could find which was secure.
you could send cash by recorded delivery from the post office but not advisable or you could use the credit union but thats a lot of hassle as there needs to be a credit union local to receive it. it would need the named person to pick it up at the other end, but it is quicker.
hope this helps

I don't see why someone dissed Wilfreds answer. You certainly used to be able to get an international money order. However, I think you should go to a bank and ask for a sterling draft in the amount of 10 pounds. They will need a payee and it will cost you but the only other option is to get a 10 pound sterling note and put it in the post (not really a good idea). A draft is very safe as it has the payee's name on it and must be cashed through a bank.
