Which is a nicer city to live - Waterford or Kilkenny? Why? No hurling references please?

I lived in both... and if I had to go back to one of them I would probably go back Waterford because it's bigger and there are some very good pubs and tons of great restaurants. But it can be a bit of a rough spot, not the kind of place a woman would feel safe to walk home alone at night, let's say. Kilkenny is smaller and prettier, but it's good craic for the weekend... living there might get boring after a while.

Mia
Both nice cities but I prefer Waterford because there's a beach nearby and the nightlife is good craic

Orla C
Both are nice places, but Waterford does have its proximity to the sea to give it an edge.

Waterford is closer to all the beaches mountains as a city it has all the extras that go with a city, factories building sites good looking women all of which we have made available to the natives of kilkenny village in order to drag them into the 21st century sadly they seem intent on playing an acient game rather than progressing ask any kilkenny man to name any kilkenny hurler over the last 100 years and he will ask him where in kilkenny hes likely to get a job and he ll scratch his head

Cian R
Kilkenny isnt a city its about half the size of Dundalk, Drogheda and Bray. Anyway Wexford is best but to make a choice I'd pick Waterford.

WATERFORD....

It is a City .. Kilkenny is not
its got beaches
education
great collage's(one, nearly a university)
great shops
nightlife
lots of history
Great hurlers(sorry but they are!)
proper roads
lots of jobs(kilkenny people come to waterford to work)
A Airport!!

what have kilkenny got?
hurlers
tractors
cockyness

Kilkenny is a much prettier town and has some decent pubs and cafés and the comedy festival, but it is missing a lot of the benefits of Waterford - close to the sea, jobs, college, airport, better nightlife, Spraoi festival etc. It's also in a slightly better location for getting out of the country - its about halfway between Cork airport and Rosslare Europort.

Wolfgirl
I'm from Kilkenny and it is a city in name if not in size - it was the capital of the kingdom of Ossary back in the day and became a city in 1609. It has a population of around 25,000 today and has everything you need for a decent lifestyle. The Cat laughs festival is brilliant every year, we have lots of cultural events and good restaurants, new shopping centres, bars and cafes. NUIM Maynooth has a campus here too, and the streets are much prettier than anything in Wasterford. I love Kilkenny, the people are way nicer than the blaaheads of the Deise.
