Go a google on racing in Ireland, check out the Irish Tourist Board's short weekends. I adore the west of Ireland, particularly Galway, whose university Martin Sheen is currently studying for his BA at, so impressed was he with the place. Dublin is like any other city, boring and dangerous and expensive.

Don't forget your euro. No sterling here. We left the empire and can't walk the streets in safety at night anymore. God be with the days when the Regent would come see us. Long time ago now. You must be very hardy to come at this time of year. A bit chilly, don't you think?

ANyway, good luck in your quest. If you are stuck, email me at moloneyrichard@msn.com

Why When How
Well without knowing what your interests ae , it is hard to asnwer that question. Dublin and Cork are 2 main cities close to airports so with a visit. My advise is avoid Kinsale (Coinn Tsaile) as it is full of Americans (absoulutely nothing against Americans, but I would go to the US to meet, them. Surely if you are in Ireland you would want to meet Irish. Clonakilty is nice and Co Wexford has the longest beach in Europe right up to Wicklow.

Sligo is a beautiful place for a short break. It has its own racetrack, and is also not far from Roscommon racetrack. There are plenty of small traditional Irish pubs, where you always get a friendly welcome.

hi I'm living in cork and this is a great city a bit expensive but the craic agus ceol is mighty 2ND choice would be killarney for the young and energetic

We don't have short weekends in Ireland - they're the same length as everywhere else!

But Galway is well known as a great spot with both horse and greyhound racing (just check out the schedules), practically everything is within walking distance, people are friendly, traffic is managable, craic is great and to top it off the airport is less than 10 minutes from the city centre.
