Which is the bigger?
Is the St. Patrick's Day parade larger in New York City or in Dublin now? I was in Dublin in the early 70s and it did not seem that big of a deal to people. It wasn't very large at all and we were told NYC was larger. Has that changed? Additional Details Sorry, my grammar is not that good today.
In Dublin the actual parade itself would have nowhere near as much funding as the one in NYC. So it wouldnt have the same wow factor.
However the atmosphere in Dublin would be much better than in NYC. Just walk into any centrally located pub in Dublin on St. Patrick's Day and you'll get a sense of what I'm talking about..
Also in recent years in Dublin, the celebrations have been spread out over the days leading up to St. Patrick's Day, with special 'cultural' events being organized all around the city centre from the 13th-17th March. You may find this website helpful, its the official site for the events: www.stpatricksday.ie
Is máith liom cáca millĂs!
I think New Yorks one is bigger because
A. The population is bigger
B. There's loads of plastic paddies there
C. In Ireland we like to go to our local parade and then the pub
D. Loads of people go to the All Ireland Club Finals on the same day
E.F.G...... I could go on all day!

I really don't know, but as an dual national (born in the US, acquired Irish citizenship), I really hope the Dublin celebration retains its dignity and doesn't adopt some of the stupider Americanized customs like green beer.

It's not much of a big deal in Dublin. The parade isn't that big, much, much bigger in NYC.
