Just Me

Who had their honeymoon in Ireland and what tips would you give?

Tips as in places to stay, companies to book through, times of year, places to go. I'm big on seeing castles and enjoying the scenery.

My husband and I went to Ireland for our honeymoon. We went in early-mid October. The weather was a little on the cold side, but nothing a light jacket wouldn't take care of. We rented a car and visited most of the country. We were there for ten days. We stayed in B&Bs every night. We didn't have any set course. We just got a good road map and would plan out where we were going the next day before we went to bed each night. It was a blast. We stuck to smaller roads, using main roads only when necessary. My favorite area of the country was Connemara, but my favorite town was Kinsale. The entire country was absolutely beautiful. The only downfall was that we were there at the tail end of tourist season and a few places were closed for the season. Overall, very romantic and very fun!

No matter when you go, it's going to be wet & rainy much of the time. But, you get used to that after a while.

You've got to get to the west coast, Galway area, to see some beautiful views.

As an Irish person I have to say that our weather is very changable. Its summer here at the moment and its been raining the past week. Today is dry no rain wohoo! The previous week the sun was shining and 25 degrees celcius! So as you can see our weather is unpredictable but you might get lucky.

Peak season is summer months so thats the best time to go. Killarney in Co Kerry is beautiful and has lots to do and see such as Muckross House.
Adare in Co Limerick is also very nice and you could stay in the renowned Adare Manor hotel.

If I were you i'd come here in July and stay in Killarney.

well judging by the past two weeks it's monsoon season here in Dublin.

You can spend your honeymoon in Ireland, but be prepared for 5 or 6 changes of weather conditions a day, regular rain and wind.

Other than that the west is amazing and gorgeous.

Sounds too wet and too cold!
