my love to Ireland started because my favorite band is from there: U2
I know some Irish do not like them anymore (Bono thinks he is Jesus, etc) but their music rulezzzz.
Generally there is a significant number of great musicians from Eire.

Ohhh I almost forgot- Irish beer yumi yumi and Irish whiskey!
ps. I just learned to say "gas craic" ;)

The climate is bonkers and the people generally a bit nuts. But at the same time very hard-working and appreciative of the arts and the possibilities offered by technology. Plus they love having a good time.

I am Irish, so this slight madness makes me feel right at home. But my Dutch other half is absolutely right when he says he thinks it's crazy the way the Irish celebrate the failures in their history: the 1916 Rising, for example. It did NOT go well for the Irish, but we mark it anyway, and go on about the heroes in it.

I love Ireland because people are straight-forward and say what they actually mean, which is great just coming from Japan.
The countryside is gorgeous as well.
