Green = the republic, catholics etc etc.
Orange = the north, protestants, orangemen etc etc.
White = peace between the two

♪♫That's Just The Way We Rol
The orange colour is associated with the Protestants in Ulster and that derived from William III (of the House of Orange and originally the Stadtholder of the Netherlands) who defeated the Irish Catholics at the Battle of the Boyne somewhere in the late 1600s. It was included in the Irish flag in an attempt to reconcile the Protestants with the Irish independence movement.

green: stands for catholics in Ireland

white: the strip of white is between the green and orange strips to represent peace between the two.

orange: stands for the protestants in Ireland.

i think that the Ireland flag is inspirational. It would all be such a better place to live if the 2 sides were at once in peace.

The green represents Irish Catholics, while the orange represents Irish Protestants; the white in the centre represents the peace between the two groups.
