Its to do with the Gulf stream carrying warm sea water from the gulf of Mexico across the atlantic, this warmer area of water causes rain clouds....

Something to do with the warm weather from the Gulf caught in the North Atlantic Drift mixing with the Southernly trade winds creating anti-cyclones or 'low pressure' areas, and then i just rains.
That or we're very unlucky
