Firstly the weatherman probably has more sense to realise there is no country called Southern Ireland.
Secondly, he does not give the weather forecast for France, so why should he include the Republic of Ireland |

Northern Ireland is considered part of the of the UK whilst ROI isn't.They don't give the weather for Spain etc...same thing |

Because UK weather presenters are only obliged to give the weather for the UK.
Anyway, "Southern Ireland" isn't what it's called. It's "The Republic of Ireland". Calling it "Southern Ireland" makes it sound like a variant of something else, or a pointer to somewhere else (as if we are only named in reference to somewhere else - South in reference to East, West or North.)
You don't call England "Non-Scotland" or "The place South of Scotland"... and so on.
Of course, "Northern Ireland" is a sorta poor term anyway, in terms of descriptive value (and since "North" is a descriptive term, it would imply that "Northern Ireland is descriptive of an area).... The most northerly point in Northern Ireland is actually a part of the Republic, or "Southern Ireland"!... |

Ireland is a country, Northern Ireland is a region. |

Maybe you should tune into Irish TV or Radio who will tell you all you need to know about the weather in Southern Ireland |

Because Ireland is a country by itself. It is not part of the United Kingdom whereas Northern Ireland, politically, is not Ireland; it is part of the United Kingdom. So they named it, I presume, Northern Ireland by its region being north of Ireland.
The proper full name for Ireland should be the Republic of Ireland. |

People mistakenly refer to the Republic of Ireland as southern Ireland, because there's a Northern Ireland.
However, those of us who live in Ireland think of Northern Ireland in terms of an political entity, and thus object to referring to our part of the island as Southern Ireland - its official name is the Republic of Ireland. |

because southern ireland is called the republic of ireland, whilst northern ireland is actually called northern ireland. northern ireland is part of the U.K and as a result British t.v companies give the weather for it. The republic or "Southern ireland" is not a part of the U.K and so british weather companies don't cover it in the weather programme |

Northern Ireland is like a different country |

Because there is the south of Ireland but there is no Southern Ireland, it's the Republic Ireland. |

because UK weather presenters only give the weather for the uk
because "southern ireland" as you put it as it is really called the Republic of ireland is not part of the uk therefore we dont get mentioned on the uk weather |

Why When How
|
well enough people have answered already but I am going to answer anyway.
Ireland is an island only . Although some say Ireland when they mean ROI
Republic of Ireland is a country,
Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom of Northern Ireland and Great Britain.
Southern island is not a political region, it's just an horrible term that should be barred.
Also if a UK channel is doing the weather for the UK, it's not very often they have need to mention ROI or France etc |
|

...
|
Because 'southern' Ireland and Northern Ireland are different countries.
Southern Ireland is just Ireland.
Northern Ireland is not just the North of Ireland. It's Northern Ireland.
If that makes sense.... |

Because the Island of Ireland is divided into two.Six counties are in Northern Ireland and twenty six are in the South known as the Free State.Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom hence all the trouble, war, violence, bombing, etc.It would be worth while reading about our history and how the British occupied the whole of Ireland this was before we became an Independent Nation...The Republic of Ireland.Irish people refer to their Nation as Eire or the Republic of Ireland or just Ireland. |

There is no such country as 'Southern Ireland' - perhaps that's why. |

Per previous anwers. When the Irish rebelled in the early 20th century against British rule the British government negotiated a division of Ireland(Eire). The "North" would remain part of the U.K. and would be an enclave of Protestantism whilst the South would become an independent country called Ireland or Eire(depending on your point of view) and was mainly Catholic. As The Republic of Ireland is not part of the U.K. It will not get a mention on the weather reports as part of the U.K. but only in passing, the same as other foreign countries's weather is reported. |

He doesn't mention France or China either.
All this confusion will end soon when the 6 counties join the Republic. |

IRELAND is the country. Northern Ireland is just a temporary little Brit. enclave. |

It's because England is still trying to split up Ireland in 2 part like they have done many places abound the world like India &
social Pakinston and many many more places like I said aro--und the world.
There are 2 other placess that they does not speak about any more that is Scotland and Wailes. They do not include them any more, I do not know why not.! England and Ireland
had many years of fiting, and England had try thrye best to split Ireland in 2 and they were on the side of socal Northern
part of Ireland and Engand lost and they still will leave thoes people alone, Why not?? I just do not know. SO THAT'S YOUR ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION!!!!! |
