The Economist magazine did a survey a year or so ago on quality of life, taking many factors into account, and Ireland came out as the best quality of life in the world.

It's a beautiful country, small and friendly and full of surprises.

It's a great place to raise a family, the education and medical systems are excellent, and it has excellent transport links to the rest of Europe.

Downside I would say number one is the public transport infrastructure has suffered years of underinvestment, but contrary to the stereotype the roads are excellent - you will be hard pressed to find any potholes today!

The country is also extremely wealthy, with lots of property millionaires, and the second highest national wealth in Europe per person (i.e. GDP per capita).

You can see the quality of life survey at http://www.economist.com/media/pdf/QUALITY_OF_LIFE.pdf

To tell you frankly, I don't know.

I agree with Wes. great food good schools nice people and much more!

Pros:

Great wages
Lots of jobs
People
Lots and Lots of Pubs
So cheap to fly to anywhere in Europe

Cons:
Pubs and Clubs close at 1am
The Weather
No real Nightlife

But don’t move permanently, the novelty of living here soon wears off.
