Will I need a passport to travel across to Dublin? |
Quite frankly, I don't have enough time to send off for a passport so I'm curious if there is anyway to get to Dublin without a passport, I do not hold a provisional driving license or anything of that sort, although I do have a photographic ID with the "pass" symbol, does anyone know if this will work or should I start canceling my journey now? From where?
I'll take a stab at maybe the UK, possibly? If so check with your airline as sometimes photo id will be enough. but the rules are changing and you will need to bring a passport next year. |

Entry requirements
Ireland, along with the UK, is a member of the Common Travel Area. This means that British Citizens do not require a passport to visit Ireland. However, Irish immigration officers will check the IDs of all passengers arriving by air from the UK and most airlines will not carry passengers to and from Ireland unless they have seen satisfactory photographic ID before boarding. Travellers to Ireland are therefore encouraged to take their British passports with them.
