Will I need a work permit to work in Cork, Ireland? And what else will I need to move to Ireland?

Hey I'm currently living in the UK and have lived here since I was born as a UK Citizen.

This month I will be finding out if I've got a job over in Cork, Ireland. My passport is valid till till the 1st July and I'll only be able to send that off for renewing on the 1st of July as I'll be on holiday from the 27th - 30th June.

So what I'm wondering is...

- Will I need my passport to move over/live in Cork?
- Will I need to gain Citizenship to move to Cork/Work in Cork?
- Will I need a Visa to work in Cork?
- Is there anything else I need to know? Can anyone provide links to make my life easier?

The more information you provide the greater help it'll be as I'm very new to this and pretty young so I'm feeling a bit clueless with deadlines hurtling towards me, thanks again.

You will only require a passport for identification purposes on travelling here either that or a valid driving license or any photo ID.
No you do not have to change your citizenship to work in Ireland.
No Visa is required as you are a EU citizen.

My son works in Cork, and loves it, I lived in Cork many years ago and it is by far the best place to live in Ireland (that is only my opinion, I know many will disagree but I made firm friends there and given half a chance I would move back ! - I still live in Ireland)

Hope you get the job - I am so green with envy - you will have a blast !!.

As an EU citizen you can live and work anywhere in the EU without giving up your own citizenship. All you'll need in Ireland is a residency permit, and all you have to do is pop into the nearest police station and ask them about it.

I suggest contacting the Irish Embassy or Consulate in the UK and asking them exactly what documents you will need to bring with you - you will certainly need a passport and probably a birth certificate as well.

How do I know this? I'm Irish by birth and lived and worked in the Netherlands for 6 years, and remained Irish the entire time.

The UK is part of the EU so it shouldn't be a problem
