Will an Englishman be safe to live in Dublin? |
I'll be moving to Dublin shortly (due to work) and i was wondering how safe i'm going to be. My grandad was Irish, from Cork, but apart from that i'm as English as they come. I've been to Dublin a few times and always found Dubliners to be extremely friendly. However my friend the other week went to to Dublin and was attacked in a pub with the bloke shouting "your ancestors killed my ancestors!!!" Does anyone think i will come across this as i will be in Dublin for probably the next 5 years? |

I would say that that bloke was very drunk.
Many English and other nationalities live all over Ireland, and they don't get this kind of treatment. |

you,ll be grand,my fella,s a scouser and living here 10, years, that dope was just drunk,Ireland is much more safer than England. |

you'll be grand. There are plenty of English people living and working over here, and most don't end up with eejits shouting at them in pubs.
There will always be idiots, no matter where you go.
So to answer, you might get some abuse, but in all honesty I can't see it being a regular occurance. |

Personally I've mostly found charming polite Englishmen much nicer than the Irish lads, and I'm fully Irish. That guy had one to many beers, once your polite etc, you will get on fine! |

Personally I feel safer in New York 3 at midnight than in Dublin which is a dangerous city and a perfect place to be racially abused. Dublin has very high homicide rates making UK look like a fair land. Apart from that it's a very very dirty city full of bigots and aggressive teenagers.
Just go on youtube and you will see.

Check out this nice video and you will see what the most of the people think about the foreigners (including English). No matter where are you from. A foreigner in Ireland is a foreigner. To the fact you are English, yes you will come across this type of behavior "your ancestors killed my ancestors!!!" Even me I have been treated as second class citizen, I am not even English.
I am here 3 years and I haven't made any Irish friend. This is the only country that I have no friends locals. So it's impossible all the other countries to be craps and Ireland to be superior. Come on, multiculturalism is something new to them, and they hate the foreigners so much... One of the reasons I closed down my youtube account. I was receiving comments like "Get out of Ireland", and a few times we got racist graffiti in the outside walls of our house.
I know you will get a lot of positive answers, cause the Irish know perfect how to advertise their country. Nevertheless, only the Irish give it such a good name. If you ask foreigners who live here, they agree with me, the Irish live in a world 60 years behind of the rest of Europe. In a few years, Ireland will become like Russia, with a significant number of racial murders. It's not the friendly country they promote, it's a hostile place, it's worsening... |
