Would you advise? |
using Ennis in the Republic of Ireland as a holiday base. How easy would it be to visit the surrounding area and attractions from there by local bus or train, as I don't own a car, or would Galway be a better option. |

Ennis Mary, is a lovely place to be as your chosen cetre for a holiday covering Galway and Clare, buses are frequent enough but Sunday can be a bit of a stay where you are kind of a day, but most of the shops are open on Sundays anyway esp, the big ones and so are the visitor sights, Bunratty Castle can be fun as can Durty Nellys, close by, Galway is always alive and jumpin' all over itself, you'll love Galway, a lot. if there are a few of you all travelling together, hope that one of them is a driver and hire a car between ye all, and take the west of Ireland by storm, and the warmth of the people there will soon surrender to your attack and presence.
Enjoy ye Holiday Mary and take us as ye find us, airs'n'graces? sure, we have no time at all for any of the likes of 'em... Good Luck now....Tony M |

Ennis isn't great as a holiday,I like it but not much to do there!
Galway's definetly the better option,it will really give you a taste of what Ireland has to offer, there's loads to do there from shopping to surfing, and it's got a nice mix of traditional aswell as modern. |

Ennis is a lovely town, but using it as a base when you don't have a car would not really work, as the public transport outside of the large towns is practically non-existent. NO TRAINS!!!! Some buses, but not many. I would advise hiring a car to see the Irish countryside, regardless of whether you opt for Galway or Ennis. |
