Northern and Southern Italians: Differences? |
Hello,
I am curious as to the differences between northern (Rome, Florence, Venice) and southern (Sicily) Italians. Such as the lifestyle, values, and the people themselves. :)

2 hotels in Rome: what to choose? |
Hi guys,
I have 2 choices for Rome in January 26-31.
1) Hotel Center 1-2-3 : Via Carlo Alberto 4/B -- close to the Tremini Station
2) Hotel Gli Artisti : Via degli Scipioni 53 -- close to the Vatican.
This question would be for italians or people that know Rome pretty well. I am looking to be in a hotel close to the city center. Which one of these two do you think it's better ?
Thanks Additional Details Ok I kind of mistaken the hotel names, actually it's 3 hotels
1) Hotel D'Este - Via Carlo Alberto 4/B - Termini zone
2) Hotel Bed & Breakfast Gli Artisti - Via degli Scipioni 53 - near Vatican
3) Hotel Center 1-2-3 - Via Giolitti 433 - near Tremini |

they are both, err.... the three of them are close to the center. maybe the one near the vatican is in a nicer area, but those near termini have for sure better connections if u are moving with public transportation. (even if via degli scipioni has a metro stop nearby) the area around termini is also very interesting because its rome's chinatown, and a lot of immigrants live there.
anyways the one in via carlo alberto shuld be in a nicer area, next to the beautiful church of santa maria maggiore.
they are 3 good choices, i suggest to take the cheapest between via degli scipioni and via carlo alberto.
good luck |

I spent 4 days in Rome back in April and staying near the Vatican is NOT near the city center. You should Mapquest the addresses and see where they are located.
We stayed at the Hotel Exedra (pricey) but it was wonderful and well located. If you're in Rome, most things are a short taxi ride away. Don't try to drive yourself inside Rome. They are all crazy drivers and tons of scooters everywhere. |

the one near termini is in the center of rome
but because is close to the station in night time is not so safe the one near the vatican is more nice area
anyway remember Rome is big but is not so big, so the vatican is not so far from the center. |

As a person who has been living in rome for quite some time i would reccommend the one near the vatican, its a beautiful area, close to the panteon and most mayor tourist attractions. anyway the metro is right by the vatican if you want to go to the other side of the town, a train arrives every 2 minutes so you can be mobile whenever you want. why not take a long stroll in the streets of rome. the termini hotels tend to be in noisy areas and its not the safest place at night. there are many pickpocketers who look for tourists that they can rob. the vatican is practically the centre as you can just walk down the street to the pantheon or catch a bus, taxi or train to the heart of rome. |

Hy, I'll choose one of the hotels near Termini (is very close to the center), but what about this one? Eurostars International Palace hotel-via Nazionale no.46? It's very well located, in a safe area and few minutes to the main beauties of Rome. |
