Mmmm-you have plane tickets to Europe over Christmas, but don't know where you are staying?
Your question is virtually impossible to answer as there are so many ways to travel. Everything from hostels to five star hotels, from eating picnics to eating gourmet, to taking an occasional train or renting a car, etc. etc. etc. But if you are going to Italy/France over Xmas, you better find a place to stay before you go, don't you think...And remember, the dollar is weak next to the Euro |

It really depends on where you are staying. I live in Italy so I can say you can usually find a cheap 1 star hotel for around 50 Euro per person. The train is fairly reasonable. Just remember the exchange rate is somewhere near 75 cents Euro to the Dollar. |

I have been travelling around most parts of Italy during the summer high season and we have always managed to find 3 stars hotels for around 100 euros/night pr room inclusive breakfast.
For lunch + dinner you should be able to get deasant meals for about 50 euros each, it all depends on which city and what kind of restaurants...
You could check prices on accomodations here and compare the different offers:

Have a nice trip to Italy! |
