Alone in Itay for six days... what should I do?

I'm an American, but I'll be arriving in Venice by train from Vienna. I was thinking just that day and the next in Venice, then onto Rome for four days. After that I'm meeting some friends in Pisa and I'll be in the Tuscany area for about a week.

So what does a guy alone in Italy do? Days? Nights? Obviously I'll see the Colliseum, Vatcian City, etc, but what are the other cools things that I might miss?

I'm on a budget, and staying in a hostel, but I can afford some stuff and a little nightlife.

Thanks!

Hey don't worry, I'm sure you won't get bored here. It's plenty of things to do. I live in Tuscany too and I can tell you that you will meet a lot of americans here if you want to spend time with your people. Don't miss Florence which is 1 hour from Pisa. It's a must see for every tourist and it's also one of the most beautiful city of Italy. You could also see Siena, Cinque Terre in Liguria, the surroundings of Florence, I mean Chianti valley that is famous for the wine. Do you like it? Yuo could visit San Gimignano. It's a small village with seven old towers. Americans love it usually. If you like going to the beach there are some lovely places like San Vincenzo and Castiglioncello down the coast of Tuscany not far from Livorno. As far as nightlife, I'm sure you'll find some nice bar in Florence. It's a very livelly city every time of the year. If you like dancing you can go to Viareggio famous for its discotheque. It's just half an hour from Pisa. Pisa is unfortunately almost dead in august 'cause students go home in summer and people from Pisa don't stay in town at night usually. Pisa is famous not only for the leaning tower but also for the universities that are closed in august. As I live in Tuscany too I can't tell you much about Rome except for the fact that you won't get bored there.

Oh you will find lots to do. I went to Rome alone as well, and just wander around and soak up the beauty. I loved the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, and the Colosseum. Try to take in a soccer game. They are insane! Be sure to eat tons of Gelato (ice cream). Have fun! Ciao!
