Answer if you live (or have lived) in Naples, Italy? |
Over the past few years I have the wonderful opportunity to visit Naples. My stepdad was stationed at Capo. The past trip ( November 2008- January 2009) I took I got the impression that the city had for the most part cleaned up.
My parents are movng back to the United States in May. I will however be going back mid May to visit my Neapolitan friends for 3 months. Knowing what Italy is like, do you think the garbage situation will be better or worse? It sounds crazy, but the trash doesn't bother me( discourage me from going back, obviously I am going back).
Some of my Italian friends say it will improve some say it will go back to the way it was. If you live or have lived in Naples what is your opinion, better or worse?

Look, I live in Salerno,it is not far from Naples.I often go there. Here in Salerno we are lucky because our new major has been able to take the culture of differentiating trash in my area. But in Naples (I hope I am wrong) I think the measures they've taken are not a defintive solution. Believe me, I am very sorry to say this, because I really love my area, but it is not yet civilized as far as this facet is concerned. But I hope someone will be able to solve definetively this problem here, because it involves a big loss! |

I live in Sorrento, near Naples, and i can say you that the garbage situation is better, i never seen trash in the road the last months. Came back in Naples and enjoy! |

The old saying goes "see Naples...and die...of stink :)
But lately the Italian government is trying to clean up the city.
There is a noticeable difference in certain areas and no difference in others.
I would say go and enjoy Napoli as is. Is part of the experience. And try to spend more time in cleaner areas. |

im sorry, but i have never been to italy before, but i will be going in march to Rome. I know that you wanted those who lived or live in Naples to answer but i could not help but to find intrest in your question.
My research tells me that the Naples, is investing numerous amounts of money to deal with the garbage problem, so that it becomes free of its reputation. So yes, although i have no been there, my research does prove, that it is getting better!
