Are B & Bs in Rome nice?

I lived in Italy for 5 Years and i can answer this question with confidence, now if you said almost any other European country then i would tell you to be careful but most Italian guest houses are Clean and tidy, always try to get pictures of it first and find out what other guests have thought, most guest houses on the Internet have guest books. Stayed in a few. One near the Spanish Steps and another close to the Pantheon. Both were very nice. Shop around on the Net, you're bound to find something that suits you.

Rome is the only city I would visit more than onceas a tourist. Fantastic place.

We stayed in a B& B in Rome, it was called something like Hotel Michealangelo or something like that, and it was absolutely fine. Plus I think it worked out as something like about Â£35 per night for both of us. Have a look on lastminute.com and expedia.com, those are the two sites we always use for our weekend breaks.

It really doesn't matter where you stay, Rome is so blissfully gorgeous that you won't be using your room much anyway!!!

Make sure you visit Vatican city, the old ruins, the colloseum, the cistine chapel... oh you lucky thing, I wish I was going again!

Hello,Isuggest you Eurostars International Palace hotel-via Nazionale no.46.It's a very well located one,just in the centre of the city,so you can enjoy all the days and nights spend in Rome.The city is gorgeous,the hotel not very expensive,the breakfast great and the staff very nice.Enjoy your trip.

Please be very careful. I have seen numerous horror stories about apartments and 'B&B's where the manager/owners change the prices upon arrival, refuse to accept credit cards despite promising otherwise, and simply don't have the room even though you reserved. I also know that some of these are located in unsafe neighborhoods in Rome, so you'd also have to be careful with that.

As much as I can't stand them, tripadvisor.com has reviews of smaller places that may help you. No place is perfect, not even the St Regis or Ritz, but you can get a feel for it if a place has consistant problems.

They ARE nicer and you should count on a B&B in Rome. It's really great. Look at hotel prices too, and then decide after.

Mostly of affordable B&B are like this. All B&B that are not, will be too far from Rome Center and Public Transport there are not so good.

You must find something near to center, like Termini. Everything began there. Bus and Subways/Metro.
Maximum Bologna or Piramide. (Get a Metro map from WWW.ATAC.IT)

Sometimes, Bus in Rome in such adventure // quite anoyng wait hours for one bus(full of people), then, pay attention to not take far Hostels. Evening late transports are not so good like in Paris or London.

In Rome is usual you find small hotels like B&B by the same price. The cheaper that I've found is 75â‚¬ near termini, but i've noticed 65â‚¬. Always ask person or room, once Italians have the habit to charge by person.

Rome is fantastic, but there are a terrible lack to deal with the tourist.

Depending on your budget, I would reccommend the Albergo Villa Borghese, opposite the marvellous Borghese Gardens, in via Pinciana. I was there last October. It is a very friendly B&B hotel, only 10 minutes in a taxi from the central termini, and a short walk into the centre. If you stay there, there is a fantastic pizzeria/grill restaurant called "Gaudi", turn right out of the hotel, then a five minute walk on the same side of the road. Check out the lamb chops!! Rome is a great city to visit, and I would definitely go back again.
