Excellent point. The Mamma fixation is just too much. The Italians are so self-obsessed and arrogant they really don't care what other people think. Actually, they all genuinely believe that it's "just the same everywhere else" even though most of them have only been to the Dominican Republic or Egypt on vacation. Little do they realize that their country has the lowest social and economic indicators in Europe.

The comments made below pretty much demonstrate the questioner's point. Italian men think they're terribly goodlooking and charming and Italian soccer is the best. No matter that they have the worst traffic accidents rates in Europe, the most unresponsive and ineffectual government, and everything is done by intimidation (i.e., the Mafia). The Italians, after all, have the word "abusivo", used to describe all the "unauthorised" ways of making money and getting around the bureaucracy. For all its fashion and style and great soccer, the country is a basket case.

I think you have some real issues with your rantings lumping everyone from one country with this hatred you have. I do know people from other European countries who do not see any of these problems with Italy that you describe and maybe you need to really look at real facts on economic and political matters before you spout off. Each country around this world has citizens who take or lie even countries you think are perfect like France or Germany. I do know they are far from that based on friends and relatives from there who are glad to never have to return to those countries.

I guess you ventured to ask the question and base your comments based on the fact that Italians have a very deep rooted famiyl structure unlike many other countries. Thus is may seems that they are mamma boys and girls because of their close knitted ties to home.
