Are pizzerias quite common in Rome?

I'm off to Rome soon. I love my pizza and live on little else.

Presumably there is a Pizza Hut in Rome...
...I want quality!

I've lived in Rome for 5 years and believe me there is no Pizza Hut in Rome and there never will be! The Romans would all go on strike and protest every minute. Pizza Hut would leave Italy with it's tail between it's legs.
Plus, why would even want to consider to eat that trash when you're in Rome?
They're are many pizzeria's in Rome and you could close your eyes and throw a rock anywhere and hit one.
Go eat and enjoy.

I'm certain you're trying to be funny about PH. However, there are no 'pizzarias' per se, at least non that I could find, I was in Roma for a month last year.

Every family resurante I visited had marhgarita pizza, incredible food, I would describe it as delicate and flavorful. I ate mostly on Via Flavia and a few blocks from the Emannualle monument, all the food was outstanding.

They are indeed! Pizza hut is a uk pizza, not bad but not the real one.
The real pizza was born in Italy (Naples) and exported all over the world. Others are just imitations of the Italian pizza. The funny thing I discovered un the USA was that some people believed that pizza was invented there and not imported by italians!
There are two kind of pizzas in Italy, one is thin and a bit watery as someone said as mozzarella cheese has lot of water when it melts. The other pizza is higher and very soft. You can find lots of delicious "pizzerias" in Trastevere but avoid the tourist restourants they are expensive ans pizzas are not very good....

Enjoy your staying in Italy!

In Rome there are plenty of pizzerie where you can find real pizza instead of British junk food. They are usually real restaurants, where one cooks each time every course, not fast-food chains.
I think also that calling "pizza" some stuff that is served in the UK should be forbidden.

Italian pizze are more wonderful than you can imagine. The best are made on an open wood fire. Look for character in your pizza maker, you'll be rewarded with class in your pizza.

Very droll. Enjoy your trip... and eventual triple bypass. Ciao!

of course pizzerie are very common in Rome, and of course there're mostly quality pizzerie: that's y we don't have Pizza hut.
The pizza u eat abroad has NOTHING got with the one u eat in Italy, trust me so don't try to find any american or junky or pretending-to-be pizza here!
