In the lagoon where Venice is located, there is one of the most famous resort beaches of yesteryear--the Lido, which is basically an 11 mile long sandbar (comparable to New Jersey beaches in the U.S.). You can take a vaporetto (water bus) right out there from Venice.
It used to be highly fashionable (early 20th century), but is now more family-oriented. The summer visitors tend to be mainly Italian. If staying in Venice, and you have the time, it's worth a day trip. Or, there are lots of places to stay at the Lido island itself. Some of the beach sections are private, for guests of the hotel.
If you want to see what it looks like, the movie "Death in Venice" was filmed there (depressng movie, but lovely scenery). |

They are ok but I wouldn't go there for the beaches. If that's what you want find somewhere in the Mediterranean. |
