Pain Is All I Know

Are they stricked in Italy on your age to get into bars? And night clubs?

In Rome mainly.

One reason why I ask is because I'm 17, and last time I went to Mexico, they let me get into bars and night clubs there.

I'm just curious if they might in Rome too?
Additional Details
Or basically are they stricked on "Under Age" (I guess you would say) drinking?

I went to Italy when I was 14 and my cousins took me to a club, LOL. No one asked what my age was, don't worry. And I look young for my age. Have fun, I love Italy.
By the way I also went to Mexico with some friends that same year and the same thing happened. Haha.

I went to Rome when I was 15 (only 4 years ago). While I was too preoccupied with other things to go into a bar or nightclub, I did buy wine several times. I wasn't with an adult, so they didn't just assume that I had parental permission. I was with other 15 year olds.

Hi! I'm from Milan.
here, fortunately...you can enter in every bar, pub, disco without problems. And I think there are no laws about drinking age. ( If you are 10-11 maybe...they don't serve you alcohol ;o)) I haven't studied law. But I never found problems in this way.
But if you have drunk you cannot drive.

Technically you have to be 16 to drink beer and wine and 18 to drink hard liquor, and there is no legal age to drink with your family. They will refuse to serve someone they feel is too young is pretty much how it goes, but 17 isn't too young. Sometimes bars and clubs will maintain a certain age that they let in, but that's about it. You will have no problem.

no they aren't.....it just happens in veeeeery few clubs that they ask for ur identity card but those clubs are like 0.000009% of all clubs....no1 ever asks for ur age for any kind of drinks except at sum McDonald's for beers (silly,i know!).
enjoy ur visit!,have a nice stay

i'm italian and i say you that there isn't a minimum of age for going into bars/night clubs or drinking alchol and smoking. you can do everything you want. they dont assume that you have your parental's permission, simplier here works in this way and that's all. think that many italian guys don't know that in UK/USA there's an age for doing something like drinking or just going into a night club.

in 23years in italy, nobody have been asking me neither once my ID card, we dont use to bring it with. So, dont worry, you ll do everything you want.
enjoy yourself.

OK, let's make it clear: you can drink, but you can't get into adults night clubs.
