I've been living in and exploring Italy for the past ten years. There eally isn't any single best place - I'd be glad to go back an revisit anyplace I've been so far. There are a lot of interesting local festivals here which celebrate local history, traditions, and/or food that are usually really good.

difficult to say, Italy is so varied and has so many good places. what make the difference in the choice are personal interests: art, nature, cuisine etc.
Generally speaking to my opinion one should not miss:
Capri, Pompei, Rome, Gubbio, Assisi, Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano, Florence, Pisa, Parma, Venice, Verona, Garda & Como lakes, Cinque Terre

Rome was amazing! it had awesome sights to see and the food was absolutely amazing, the people were nice as well...mmm the panarea islands were great too, haha there is no cars there, they used golf carts instead cause the roads are real small, it was really fun there, the little hotels were nice...it was just a cozy pretty island and the food there was really great too...of course theres water all around and the water is crystal clear...there is also cave things that you can sail out to and you can snorkle or scuba dive...those are the best places ive been you should look em up.

When visiting Cinque Terre, I stayed in La Spezia in a campground in the middle of a mountain forest like area. It was beautiful.
